Oh man...

I am trying.
While I do love sculpting in paper mache,
once in awhile I'll set it aside and
try other mediums.
I've been using sculpey,
which is easier to work in the details.

I have found that I had to go back to bone structure.

I see the million and one imperfections, but that's how I'll learn,
right!
And though this Old Man, is just practice, and will
most likely sit in my to-do box, til I'm 90,
I will keep trying.  Not because I have to, but because I want to.
And then I'll have to make clothes!
OMG!
But I can do it!

Well I guess you COULD make the rest of his body out of sculpey, then you only have to give him a loin cloth for clothes. :~)

Good on you for trying to get outside your comfort zone...it's brave and more helpful than you know!

He's fabulous!!!! I admire all who sculpt, just not my forte, but I try!!

I can help with clothing when you get there . . . if I'm still around ROTFL!

Looks like you're having fun. I tried my hand at cold porcelain awhile back but didn't care for it. I guess I'm stuck with PMC. I do like your old man and I too can help with clothes, but be warned, I'm getting up there in years so the offer's only good for so long. =^)

I had to come back and visit him. Y'know what I see him wearing? A little flat cap and argyle-patterned golf clothes.

Yeah, a loin cloth would definitely be easier. ;~)

Lisa, he looks great! I haven't worked with sculpey, but I have thought about giving it a try. Maybe you can share some tips with me:) Hope you have a lovely day.

Lisa, don't you just love Sculpey? My first attempt at using Sculpey was in 1988 when I used to make my own clay beads. It certainly is a great product to work with.

I think he looks very cool so far, Lisa. I hope you finish him. I KNOW you can!!! :)

I love your old man sculpt. Finish him! I used to sculpt elves exactly the same way. Do you wrap your wire skeleton with strips of batting, too? I also am working in a different medium at the moment.
